PRODUCT FEATURES
Single-function valve cartridge controls the temperature at full output flow. Monitors water pressure to balance temperature. All Delta® tub and shower faucets are engineered to keep the water temperature within a safe ±3.6° F (±1.7° C)*. This technology makes sure your family doesn’t experience a sudden and possibly unsafe change in water temperature as a result of running water elsewhere, such as using a dishwasher, flushing a toilet or running a washing machine. The valve cartridge features an adjustable handle limit stop that, when properly set, helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort*. The handle limit stop's integrated design allows easy adjustment via pull and turn. Easily replaced seals make maintenance a snap.
Comes with all Delta pressure balance tub and shower faucets.

Miserable quality, expensive paperweight
They don't last. We have two showers on opposite sides of the same wall running the same water. In shower #1, the cartridge is as old as anyone can remember. In shower #2, we replaced the cartridge a year ago. $200 contract labor plus the cost of the cartridge. It lasted 6 months and started its ever-worsening leak when turned to the off position. $200 more plus the cost of another cartridge. The new one just suffered the same failure as the last two, and had to be replaced again. Another $200 labor, another new cartridge cost.
We're down almost $1,000 this year alone on these defective Delta cartridges. I might as well buy the knockoffs that cost a quarter of what these cost if I'm going to have to have them replaced every 6 months.

I bought a shower cartridge on line from “guess who begins with an A”the part was identical but would not fit then I went down the local building supply store bought an delta OEM cartridge went home popped the cartridge in place and boom everything was air golden

not enough hot water
new RP19804 cartridge installed but water just gets warm not hot enough and was not an issue prior to changing and changed due to minor drip. Other facets in the room are normal temp for hot water. What can be done?

Nothing Better Than OEM
Buying directly from Delta rubber stamps OEM components that are built to last. I've learned my lesson about the risk of selecting after market items or those that are advertised as compatible with OEM parts. If you're a DIY guy, especially when dealing with plumbing repairs, my advice is to buy OEM and enjoy significant savings on plumbers fees when the job is complete. More often than expected, 50-75% savings on a part can translate into the frustration of having to repeat the repair and do without for a longer duration until the OEM part is delivered. Being greedy has its unfortunate consequences, so trust Delta over third party sources!

Don't buy. Good luck getting warranty. I called the 1800 number for warranty and the message said 'in a department meeting, goodbye'. then hung up. Wow, an all-day-long department meeting....

I live in a house built in 1998 which has a delta shower faucet and is currently leaking, I am not sure whether i should replace the existing cartridge with RP19804 or RP46074 or just replace the seats and springs RP4993. Please help

Hello, My tub/shower faucet face plate says Monitor at the top and was installed May 2006. Is the correct cartridge replacement Delta RP19804.

The RP19804 is used in 1400 series (single handle, handle at 3 o'clock when off) Monitor faucets before we changed to MultiChoice valves in April 2006.
If your faucet has a temperature control knob on top of the volume control handle it would not use RP19804.
If your faucet has a MultiChoice valve, the cartridge it uses would be RP46074.

The best way to distinguish this from the RP19804 is the difference between the white or gray color of the top half of the cartridge.

What is the kit or part numbers for the springs and seals for the universal 13/14 cartridge? Besides the springs\seats and orings, is there anything else that could be causing a leak? Are there instructions available to replace the springs\seats?

I replaced the cartridge on my delta monitor 1300 shower faucet because of low water pressure. But unfortunately the new cartridge has the same pressure. Is there something I’m missing about replacement cartridges? I m assuming there are only two ? Help

Thank you for contacting us, I have included the flushing instructions below.
To flush the open valve without the cartridge, please follow the directions below.
1) Remove the handle by loosening the set screw on the side of the base of the handle. The set screw is either a 1/8" or 3/32" Allen screw. So you will need to use the appropriate size Allen wrench to loosen it. Loosen it just enough to be able to easily pull the handle off. * Note. If there is calcium build-up at the base of the handle, it may be necessary to soak it in a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Simply saturate the rag with the 50/50 solution, wrap it around the handle base and place a plastic bag over it. I would recommend do this the night before removing the handle.
2) After removing the handle, remove the trim sleeve.
3) Then you will need to remove the bonnet nut. The bonnet nut is the threaded ring at the valve opening. It unscrews counterclockwise. You will need a pipe wrench or a pair of channel locks.
4) After removing the bonnet nut, you will need to pull the cartridge straight out. You may need a small, skinny bladed screwdriver to wedge in between the lip of the cartridge and the valve to help start it out.
5) Once the cartridge is removed, you will have an open valve body.
6) Next, shut the shower door or curtain and turn the water on to the valve. Water should gush out, much like an open fire hydrant. Have someone observe if there is good water pressure coming out of the valve and let it flush for 30 seconds.
7) Re-install the cartridge and re-assemble in reverse of how it was disassembled. The Tub/Shower should then have a good flow. If it does not, the cartridge will need to be replaced.

The original module 1400 series was great for 15 plus years. I have installed 4 in the past 8 years. There is an issue with the hot water and the handle becomes very difficult to turn. If I buy one will it be EXACTLY like the original?

I have a Delta Celise shower faucet model 144705-RB. Are Delta replacement cartridges RP46074 and RP19804 interchangeable? What if an RP19804 is used for repair instead of an RP46074?

I'm remodeling my bathroom and not really looking to open up the wall.. The shower kit being removed has the old rp19804 (house built in 2001) and I'm unsure if I can use any delta kit or if it has to match?

Any of our current 13/14 series shower units will fit your current valve as long as the screw locations on the trim plate are at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions. You would also need to us your original cartridge, not the one that comes with the new trim.

I think this is cartridge for my delta monitor shower. Plummer did work at parents home before 2006. I do not have model number or date of installation. Also curious about warranty. Need any parts under warranty. Thank you.

Which delta handle fits this particular cartridge and covers the visible part of the cartridge? I changed the cartridge this weekend and my old delta knob does not fit this newer style

Any current 13/14 series handle should fit, like the H79. Changing out the trim sleeve for a longer one may close the gap:
RP50879 is 2-1/16"
RP39407 is 3"
RP22735 3-1/2".

I have a Delta Monitor Series 1400 shower faucet which is leaking from the shower head. I understand that Delta faucets have a lifetime guarantee and the replacement cartridge can be sent to me free of charge?

A 1300 /1400 series faucet uses a single handle to control the water volume and temperature, so this would not be the correct cartridge for your faucet.
The cartridge RP32104 would be used in a 1500 series faucet from 1994 with a volume control handle and a temperature knob.

What is the difference between pre 2006 and post 2006 1300/1400 tub cartridges

Thank you for your question about the Delta Faucet RP19804.
In 2006, we introduced our MultiChoice valve roughs. The post-2006 MultiChoice cartridge has different shaped legs to fit the current valve roughs. RP19804 has a white plastic top half. RP46074 has a gray plastic top half.

To remove the cartridge, with the water supplies off, unscrew the brass bonnet nut counterclockwise and then pull the cartridge straight out of the valve. See here for more information:

Just received this replacement cartridge and handle. The cartridge isn't seating the same and the trim sleeve isn't straight. It's off just enough so that the handle grinds on it when turning. The new handle didn't do this with the old cartridge. Help?
